Bicester Partnership Under-11 swimming gala
On Wednesday 16th November, eight Chesterton Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in the Bicester Partnership Under-11 swimming gala. Both a girls' and boys' team took part with events consisting of a freestyle relay, a medley relay (where all four strokes are swum) and four individual events (one for each stroke). With the girls kicking off the morning with a fantastic 3rd place in the freestyle relay, the boys took inspiration from this and showed great determination in their equivalent event for what was the first competitive swimming race for three of the four team members.
As the morning went on, both teams picked up a selection of 3rd and 4th places with particularly strong performances from Zac, who won his butterfly individual race, and Inés, who placed 2nd in a very competitive freestyle individual race.
The "Spirit of the Games"value for the day was determination; a value that every member of both teams demonstrated. After careful consideration, Miss Mansfield decided to nominate Alex as the school's representative for this value. Alex was awarded a pedometer from the partnership in recognition of this. After all the races were complete and scores collated, Chesterton came away with an overall 5th place out of 11 partnership schools - a fantastic and well deserved result!
