Welcome to the Chesterton school website

I am delighted to welcome you to Chesterton CE Primary School, a thriving, voluntary-aided Church of England Primary School providing a positive learning environment for children from Chesterton and surrounding villages.

The school currently consists of 182 pupils across six classes, with Breakfast Club and after-school wrap-around provision available to families.

We have a dedicated staff team, a highly effective governing body and supportive families who are all working together to ensure that our enthusiastic and motivated pupils thrive and develop throughout their time at Chesterton. We feel that the knowledge, values and independence that are fostered at our school stand them in good stead for the next steps on their educational journey and into the wider world beyond.

Staff and families collaborate well to support children's learning and we hope that you will find lines of communication, both formal and informal, open and regular. We value progress across a rich and varied curriculum and, through our creative planning and teaching, provide engaging topics that inspire all our learners. Children have access to iPads, laptops and a variety of other technology in order to enhance their learning and examples of work from all areas of the curriculum are regularly showcased on this website.

In addition to academic achievement, we are committed to providing a range of opportunities for children to develop other aspects of their personality. We have a spacious and well-resourced outdoor environment and offer regular 'outdoor learning' opportunities and Forest School for all classes as well as educational visits, including residential visits for Key Stage Two.

We value and recognise all forms of achievement through our Friday Celebration Worship, performances to parents, community and sporting activities, House Points and Well Done certificates. Linking our rewards systems to our positive behaviour policy also ensures that good choices and learning behaviour are acknowledged and celebrated. Our children always represent Chesterton well, both in school and at external events.

As mentioned above, the staff at Chesterton School are supported and challenged by a hard-working team of governors and our School Association are extremely active with event organisation and fundraising to improve the school for the benefit of all our pupils. We are proud to be linked to the Akeman Benefice, our parish church of St Mary's and our Rector, Gareth Miller. The church community and our Christian values are at the heart of everything we do.

I would very much welcome anyone interested in joining our school to contact us to arrange a visit and it would be our pleasure to show you around. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy exploring our website and finding out more about the many wonderful things that have been going on in our school.
