Safer Internet Day
As today is 'Safer Internet Day', I have compiled a few helpful resources to make sure that you are all staying as safe as possible whilst spending time online.
Take a visit to Google's
Interland and embark on a quest to become a confident explorer of the online world!
I really enjoyed these games! I hope that you do too.
Are you Internet safety savvy?
Take the quiz here:
These questions are probably more suited to older pupils, but all of the questions provide good discussion points to talk about as a family.
There's a quiz aimed at
younger children here:
Have a look
here to remind yourself of the SMART rules. Can you remember them all? There are also some resources to use and games to play on this page.
Here are some online video lessons about each of the
SMART rules.
If you have any questions about staying safe online, this is the
place to get the answers:
For parents:
The attached document,
Let's Talk About Life Online, is really handy for anyone wanting more advice on how to approach online safety with your child. Page six of this document is particularly helpful, as it gives you 10 key messages to share with your child.
I have also attached a
Family agreement for you to discuss and agree upon together. You can find out more about a
family agreement here:

Reading Raffle
We have just received an exciting selection of new books for our Reading Raffle prize box. These books were bought from Coles Books in Bicester, who recommended them all to us. They all sound great and we can't wait to see who wins one in our next Reading Raffle draw!

Home Reading
I hope that you and your families are all keeping well, and that Home Learning is running as smoothly as possible.
You may remember from the first 'lockdown', that we continued with our Reading Raffle awards and we were really impressed by the level of reading that was taking place at home. We would very much like to keep up with our reading awards over the coming weeks, and we hope that you will again find reading at home an enjoyable and rewarding activity. If you require any advice regarding which type of books your child should be reading or online resources to support reading, please contact your child's class teacher for advice.
As you will know, we award Reading Raffle tickets to children reaching the next milestone in their number of reading nights (25 nights, 50 night, 75 nights etc) and a draw is done each Friday, with the winner choosing a book prize.
If your child reaches their next milestone whilst at home, please email me directly (ksalter@chesterton.oxon.sch.uk) and I will make sure that their raffle ticket is added to the draw. Each week, we will draw a winner and let you know who has won. Books prizes can be selected once we are back at school.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Best wishes,
Mrs Katy Salter
