PE and Sport: Sports Personality of the Year
SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Our 10th Annual Sports - July 2025

Awards took place last Thursday morning, complete with entrance music for the winners and the obligatory photo montages.
These awards celebrate all our participation, team successes and individual pupil achievements in sport and P.E. over the year. There were prizes presented in several different categories. The first were Club Medals, which are given for outstanding commitment, effort and performance at various sports clubs throughout the year. Then, two Sports Personality of the Year medals were presented for each class, recognising fantastic effort and attitude during school P.E. lessons. We also awarded a trophy and medal to our Girls’ and Boys’ Footballer of the Year.
The final awards were for Outstanding Contribution to Sport. These prizes were given to two Year 6 children, who have demonstrated exceptional effort, a positive attitude and fantastic ability in all aspects of sport during their time at Chesterton. As you may remember, these final trophies are called ‘The Andy Reading Cup’ in memory of our much-loved and fondly-remembered headteacher. Mr Reading was headteacher of Chesterton from 1979-1991. Amongst other things, he had a great passion for sport and outdoor activity and we felt that it was fitting to name the prize in his memory. Our deserving winners for 2025, Edward Messum and Beatrice Dancer have been presented with an impressive trophy each.
